Great Whales in Baja
(Limited to 8 shooters, minimum of 4)
When photographers ask me what my top five world locations are, I always include Baja California and the Sea of Cortez. I’ve written stories about Baja, driven and camped the entire peninsula eight times, and been utterly beguiled by it’s varied beauty in so many ways. For me the best time to photograph in Baja California is in late winter and early spring when the whales return to the lagoons, to breed and birth and chill out in Mexico.
In late February I’m offering a small group experience photo workshop, featuring whales as our focus, but with opportunities to photograph the grand desert landscape and also an isolated, but hauntingly lovely Spanish mission. We will have 5 whale tours in all, coming in close contact with friendly gray whales and if lucky, we may get to touch them as well. We’ll go in search of the elusive blue whale in the Sea of Cortez, where I’ve also seen fin whales, pygmy sperm whales, manta rays and of course, dolphins aplenty. Critiques are included, and if this winter is wet then we may have glorious spring wildflowers in the lush desert highlands.
This is a 6-day, 5 night trip, with Los Cabos as our air gateway to the great whale lagoons of southern Baja California. You can fly in on a weekend, do the complete tour, and fly home the following weekend.
Included: Five nights lodging, transportation all along our Baja route, five whale tours and related permits, some lunches, Critiques and Final Dinner. If you are interested please write or call for details of our itinerary and pricing. We’ll be accepting 50% deposits through January 5, 2018.
Not Included: Air to Los Cabos, lodging the night we return to Cabo (as some may wish to stay longer or have a favorite hotel), Food (other than Final Dinner and lunches on whale tours), Alcohol, etc.
